2020

2020 is proving more successful. A pair of blue tits started nest building in March.

2019

In 2019 I put up a new nest box which was purpose made for installing a camera. Unfortunately the birds thought it was too new and ignored it completely! The only occupant was a mouse.

2018

22nd May 2018

Clips of the 2 young house sparrows in the nest box. One of them spends a lot of time at the entrance. The female drops in at one point briefly. The following day the young successfully left the nest.

15th May 2018

The chicks are growing fast. Not sure how many there were to start with but it looks like two have survived. They’re now starting to move around a bit as they jostle for food from the parents so they’re easier to see. In this clip they’re fed 4 times in 3 minutes.

7th May 2018

We have chicks! Not great video & difficult to see them as there is so much nest material, but they are there – just a small amount of movement when the adult has gone. You can here them though. Hopefully better views to come.

13th April

The sparrows have been very busy adding nest material and hopefully preparing the nest for some eggs.

4th April

The nest material is back and one of the sparrows is roosting in the box overnight.

22nd March

After all their hard work building the nest, the sparrows have decided to remove the nesting material:

10th March

Our first visitor:

More nest material added:

9th March – Some nest material (nothing happens)
